It is the resistor that goes on the engine block IIRC. I forgot its purpose but they shouldn't be expensive.

capacitor for the oil pressure gauge and censor. It gets connected to the red/yellow wire that runs parralell with the oil pressure sensor and guage. It keeps spikes from kicking the **** out of the gauge.

Isn't it the ground that goes on the slave cylinder (or was it between the starter and tranny)?

I believe the Mazda dealer told me it was a radio resistor or some useless bull ****. It has NOTHING to do with the oil preasure gauge.

You're gullible.
Why would Mazda put a radio resistor in the engine bay?

stfu noob.

EDIT: and one of the first things you should have learned was the dealer knows about as much about the rx-7 as my cat knows about rebuilding a rotary.

EDIT2: I take that back, I'm pretty confident my cat can at least identify a rotary engine, mazda dealers can't even do that without a ******* computer to tell them.

certainly doesnt have any major effect on the oil pressure guage... ive run cars with/ without it hooked up or even on there with no noticable difference in anything. if you really want one, i'll send it to ya for $2 to pay my shipping costs.

I was referring to my lack of knowledge in the electronics department.

Ha that is so true the wire connecting to my condeser just broke and I noticed it spiking out of no where. luckily i had an after-market oil pressure gauge to confirm that my oil pressure was fine and the guage was just flipping out

This is true, its just a safety precaussion so that the $20 dollar sensor doesn't kill the $10 gauge (smart mazda eh?) The guage will run 100% fine with it so long as the sensor doesn't try to kill them both. Coincidentaly, the actual capacitor for replacement would cost about $.75 at radioshack. Otherwise I ave my sensor wired straight to the gauge without the parraelell capacitor.

So the "condensor" helps save the gauge or the sender? Just want to make sure. My wire broke off and I'm using an aftermarker oil pressure gauge anyway. Just wanted to know if this is what is stopping my stock gauge from working. If the gauge itself is screwed now what options are there to fix it? I know the sender can be replaced easily.

Gauge.
It smooths out the signal from the stock sensor.

so basically if the gauge is shocked because the "condensor" isnt working correctly then the gauge is FUBAR'D permanently?

Technicaly... it is keeps the driver from not freaking out when he/she sees the oil pressure change rapidly. With the condensor, it would smooth it out....

Anyhow, technicaly you can run without it, I have and have had no problems. If it breaks at some point, I'll buy a cheap $20 senger/gauge unit that probably works twice as good as the stock one anyhow...

I spent about $200 on my electric blitz pressure gauge. Just wanted to see if I could get my stock gauge working again to compare accuracy between them.

I couldnt say my stock one doesnt work and I think it's dead because the wire to the condensor on the slave is broken. I didnt bother replacing the stock sender to see if that was also malfunctioning. I trust my blitz one. It's installed with an aftermarket oil pedastal BTW.
