do both coils run all the time?

I have a 87 13b, and the only coil that works is the leading one, my question is are they both suppost to work at the same time or is it like the injectors and only the leading will fire till after you hit the 3800 rpm and then they both do? can some help!!!!!!

Ya I did check for spark, I pulled the plugs out and turned it over, the leading plugs were doing great but the trailing ones would fire like almost never, I just put the plug on the inside fender to hit the metal

If your tach on the dash is working then the trailing coils should be as well (since they are getting a summed signal).

I would use the fender wall...use a timing light to check it, or put a screw driver in the wire plug and do that...

My tach works fine, but when the thing floods out the only plugs that are wet are the trailing and off the fender the trailing the spark is nut as big as the leading if any, I did put new plugs and wires
