Arrow The dirt on oil filters-who uses what

Okay, this is probably going to create some contrecersy over personal preference but

What kind of oil filters (and size #)are people using on their fc's, Why did you choose that brand, how succesful has it been for you?

I have read many articles, and heard many peoples opinions, lets get some more, maybe help some people keep the rotaries running longer and better.

I have been using Kralinator (wix) filter L165a. I've got about 5 cases for free and they also fit on my dad's talon so it works well. I have heard something about going to a bigger filter but they need to have some sort of check valve in them.

K&N Hp 1004,

they are like 17 bucks canadian + tax for them... so i've started to use mazda OEM ones... 5 bucks + tax.

someone told me that the mazda one has an internal oil pressure regulator.

I use the Purolator Micronic filters... I change the oil at 1500-2000 mils religiously and the oil comes out of the pan just a bit darker than it went it, plus.... they are sparkly blue in color and match my vaccume hoses, which i changed to blue after i started buying the filters!!

I would not worry too much about which oil filter. All new oil filters should work fine if oil is changed every 3k miles. I change it every 2k miles, that makes more of a difference.

I would stay away from FRAM though, sucky filtration.

I buy the K&N filter. Its 10 bones here in NJ...which gets pricey after a while. However, I've learned not to cheap out on my rx-7, because whenever I do...it comes back and bites me in the ***.

I use the best off the shelf ones for now, but once my final project is made i can tell you this....

Im going with the AMSOIL systems filtration!

Check THIS OUT....

AMSOIL By-Pass Oil Filters filter all the oil in a six-quart system in about five minutes at an average engine speed equivalent to 45 mph.

Cool, I thought I was the only one who digs the blue filter!
