Difference between s4 13bt and s5 13bt

Am about to purchase a s5 rx7 13bt, previous owner says it has a s5 engine in it but not the original one that came out from factory. Any major differences between series 4 n 5 that i can tell just by lookin???

Err, I wouldn't be worried if it's an S5 with an S5 engine....

Main differences are internal really, and power.

Easiest is to see if the oil metering pump is mechanical or electrical. S4s were mechanical and S5s electrical.

There are tons of visual differences. Knock sensor holes, OMP, TPS', shape of the manifolds, the turbo and manifold, injectors, alternator, and others but i'm tired of typing. Saying there are no visual differences is just plain wrong.

I seriously doubt the guy dropped the s4 engine into the s5. Its been done I am sure but its not really worth it.

There are visual differences, but they are subtle, especially on the turbo models.

he may used an S4 block with the S5 junk on it. the s5 spark plug holes are spaced differently than the S4 engine too.
