Diff power handling question

I have my 91 turbo almost fixed and it was a NA to turbo swap. My big thing is that the NA diff is still there.

How much power can the non turbo diff hold and what will happen if it cant handle the power while Im out driving?

Thanks

Well the tranny is in good shape and I have a spare one just incase. Its a turbo to na drive shaft.
The whole thing is that I have a spare parts car that has the lsd diff and thought about keeping it incase something happened but I wasnt sure if it was worth my time or not.

I have shelled two NA differentials with an NA motor. One was an open diff and the other was a LSD from an S4.

I stripped all of the teeth from the spider gears in the open diff. In fairness it did have ~250,000 miles.

You can see pics of my LSD diff here.

I had one bad launch with a ton of wheel hop at the drags and then it shelled the next day on my first run at an AutoX. It was making a howling after the drag run so I knew it was on the way out.

I am now running a TII drivetrain in the car.

I have also driven an S4 with a stock TII diff that has an LS1 pushing 350hp to the wheels with no problems. Numerous AutoX runs and at least 20 runs at the drags.

My advice is to drive it until the diff shells then replace it with a Turbo.

I agree 100%. Hold on to that TII diff.
