Just a slight sode note, the "FB" moniker has kinda stuck.&nbsp The Japanese enthusiasts call all 1st gen's "SA22C."&nbsp Don't argue with me on it - this is just how it is.&nbsp Shorten to "SA"...

BPU (Basic performance upgrades) i.e. intake, exhaust, etc.
This term originally came from the Supra group?

G, GS, GSL, GSL-SE---trim levels for 1st gen (FB) cars (79-85)
Wrong forum section? Was here really a "G" model?&nbsp I always thought it was S/GS/GSL/GSL-SE?

SE, GXL, GTU, GTUs, Turbo II (TII), AE (anniversary edition) ---trim levels for 2nd generation cars (86-91)
Yeah, we have quite a few good web pages out there that cover this.&nbsp Do I have to be trite and mention "search"?

R1, R2---sport and touring packages for 3rd genertaion car (93-95)
Wrong forum section?
You might as well add PEP/PEG and all the little acronyms for colors - BB, CYM, MB...

Ted, you KNOW that I must argue with you now that you have written that.

SA: 79-80
FB: 81-85

Both 1Gens, different VIN nicknames.

However, I do agree that this thread is beating a dead horse.

Oh, I know about the VIN's, but tell a Japan guy "FB", and he'll give you a weird look...they know "FC" and "FD", but they call ALL their 1st gens over there "SA's."

yeah, i have read tons of japanese car tunning magazines, and i think they only use SA22 for the chassic code for 1st gen RX-7

and also although i am not japanese,i will definitely give a weird look when i heard the term FB.

and from my old turbo 2, a 87 one, some of the parts number/code actually has FB on them...and on the same part of my current FC (89), the part is label FC

I just see a lot of new guys asking what various terms meant so i figured we could make em a little compilation to search. I could be wrong about G, it may very well be S, which would actually make more sense Stop being so technical Ted!
