dash question.
Alright, so yesterday I picked up a S4 TII shell. And it has a full aluminum dash. Curious how hard it is to wire up a Speedo, and tach if I were to buy seperate gauges? Or should I try and fit a factory cluster?

Does it even have any of the factory wiring? If it does you could just run the factory cluster although wouldnt be as accurate or as cool to say the least. Also the giant hole cutout does really sucks now you cant cut your own holes depending what cluster or gauges your want to run. Would probably end up having to put another aluminum sheet over the hole.

Yes I have the factory wiring. And I was planning to get another sheet to cover that hole., so either I can start from scratch, or make a stock cluster fit. That's not the issue.
My question is; how would I wire a separate tach and Speedo? I can write the rest of the gauges (i.e. Oil pressure, volts, boost, temp) but i've never run a Speedo. And never run a Tach on a rotary before.

The stock cluster is made to fit the stock dash, it wouldn't be particularly easy to fit it to a flat panel like that.
Any tach set up to run on a four cylinder car will work fine one the rotary.
The speedo will be tough because it's mechanical and the FC cable has a rather unique end fitting, unlikely you'll find something that will accept the FC cable.
You could use a FD VSS (vehicle speed sensor) which will adapt to the FC without too much trouble and then find a suitable electronic speedo.

Im running the autometer speedo and im running the stock cable. With my aluminum dash it seems to hold it in place on its own. Just a tempory fix i suppose not completely sure if its even accurate.

Hey which one are you using? That interests me even if it's just a temp option
Im using the sport comp 5 inch spedo
Auto Meter
Going to see if there is a better way to keep it secure on the gauge and will have to drive next to someone to see how accurate it is.

Well ill be working all week so no time to really find a good way to keep it mounted. Here is my rubberband fix getting mounted for the next drift event as i have no time to really make something, definitely not the best way but gets the job done for the meantime. Be creative maybe you will find something that works long term. Will test its accuracy.
