Damnit. Fresh rebuild will start, run for <30, die
Not the oil pressure regulator on the back housing. I'm talking about the overpressure (spring-loaded) valve on the front cover. It's on its bottom and looks like a gold coloured hex shaped bolt (about 27mm IIRC).

Yeah, that wasn't removed.
I'm gonna gamble and say it's the gasket, I really mean gamble, tomorrow morning between 11 and 1 is my last shot to work on this car for 3 months.
Unfortunately black dragon doesn't carry this part by itself, think I can get away with the make your own gasket rolls?

You're probably right. It's probably the lack of gasket. I've honestly got no idea how it would act without it in there.
What you can do instead of using a paper gasket is to use some Permatex The Right Stuff. You'll need to clean both surfaces with brake cleaner and some scotchbrite type pads. Then from there, brake cleaner and some paper towels. Get every last bit of oil off. Then apply The Right Stuff, tighten the pick up tube on, then let it sit for a while. It'll work.

Update.
So, my house arrest officer is giving me a couple of hours on saturday mornings to go down and work on the car.
The gasket was on the pick-up tube, I didn't forget it, o-ring was there too.
I'm going to take the front cover off to triple check everything, may even replace the oil pump with a couple others I have laying around that I know work.
Anything you guys suggest checking while I'm down there?
