i have an 87 GXl 13B all stock except for an intake. when i first start it, it does its normal 3000 rpm rev then drops down to about 1750. then i bounces from there down to 1400 and back until the engine warms and the idles gets below 1500. is it supposed to do this? if not, what can i do that will fix it?
Surging is not normal an indicates a bad or mis-adjusted TPS.
However cold start in neutral should first rev to 3000 rpm then idle down to around 1200, and as the engine warms then down to 650/700 rpm

Mine does the usual warm up but then at a certain point it revs up and down from like 1500rpms to 2000rpms but only for a minute or two then goes away and she warms up just fine
that is what mine does but it does it alot longer. it always does the rev up and down between 1500 and 2000 but for almost the entire time it warms up. once it starts to idle just below 1500, it runs just fine.
im still new at this rotory engine stuff. i have only had my car for 2 weeks. when you say TPS, do you mean Throttle Postion Sensor? If so, then how do you adjust it?

Well it only does this on the warm up and no other time. And I looked closer tonight and it's only going from 1250-1500. I'm not bothered by it at the moment. Car runs great and have no issues with it driving
