curious...
i have an 87 GXl 13B all stock except for an intake. when i first start it, it does its normal 3000 rpm rev then drops down to about 1750. then i bounces from there down to 1400 and back until the engine warms and the idles gets below 1500. is it supposed to do this? if not, what can i do that will fix it?

Surging is not normal an indicates a bad or mis-adjusted TPS.
However cold start in neutral should first rev to 3000 rpm then idle down to around 1200, and as the engine warms then down to 650/700 rpm

that is what mine does but it does it alot longer. it always does the rev up and down between 1500 and 2000 but for almost the entire time it warms up. once it starts to idle just below 1500, it runs just fine.
