Trying to fire up the replacement engine
I just put a new engine in my 7, it is used and has good compression. Has been sitting for a few months, being turned over every few days. Got it in two days ago, and went to start it today.
It will start right up, but I can't keep it running. It will start up strong, then I try to keep it running with the gas but that seems to kill it faster, then it just floods. I set the TPS to 1K ohm, even though on the last engine, it would only idle/drive right at 0 ohms..... I might try setting it back to that.
I finally got tired of deflooding it tonight so I gave up, but when it fired it ran good, so I will go back at it tomorrow.
Any tips are appreciated.

I mention that because I left an AFM unplugged on a friend car. It would start and die, start and die each time it became increasingly harder. I was scratching my head on two seperate occasions untill I noticed the harness down by the frame rail.

the AFM if unplugged should cause an open circuit to the fuel pump. Technically the fuel pump shouldnt run unless there is a slight amount of stage going through the AFM. if by some chance the jumper is jumped the fuel pump will run. You should be able to listen for the fuel pump if its running. Also check the MAP is the vacuum hose hooked up? Check for codes im sure that will help.. I had a bad ECT and it caused the same type of problem. I also had my emanage map loaded for the AFM with no values this caused the same problem but as we were saying before your AFM needs some air to pass through it to power the fuel pump
