Crossmember replacement question

Crossmember replacement question

I got into a bit of an accident swerving out of the way of a caddy that was about to hit me. I ended up taking out a sign and curb hopped while the guy in the caddy cruised away. Anyways, I smashed my steering contol box, put a hole in my aftermarket radiator, curb rashed and bent one of my two piece wheels and the sign smashed my sunroof. When i went to replace everything i realized that my crossmember had gotten bent as well... So now i hae everything except the sunroof. Went to a manual rack, got a bumpsteer kit, new radiator, pulled all the a/c and power steering stuff out. The car i pulled the crossmember had no engine but its going into my car that has an engine. I want to swap them as easy and straight through as possible but idk if i will need a cherry picker or not to hold the engine while i swap the engine. If anything, i was gonna use a jack to sustain the motor. Who has swapped crossmembers and how did you do it. Cherry picker or not? Thanks in advance and i apologize in advance if my despcription was too long

I usually jack up at the transmission to support the engine/etc while swapping crossmembers.

Cherry Pickers are nice because you have more room to work under the car, both ways will work.

The only time I've ever done it was my friend's shop.
He had this adjustable bridge rig that spanned the bay and rested on the fender flanges.
In the center was a ratcheted hand crank for a lift chain.
You just put enough tension on the chain to begin lifting the engine on the mounts.

He then raised the lift and we dropped the subframe from underneath.
It was easy.

And yes, I'm very spoiled.

If you can hang the engine up somehow,then you got it made.
I used to lift engines out using the Trusses in the Garage,and a come along..It got scary though when I went to get a 350 Olds engine out though!

I did use an old punching bag stand to lift up my dirt bike to do some work but ill probably just use a jack and some some wood to hild up the engine/trans during the swap. I can get ahold of a cherry picker but that requires some driving and my buddy has a 2 post lift in his shop but that requires towing. I will get it done hopefully this week/weekend because im in KS and it will be in the high 50's which is pretty good for october.

Jack up the car, insert stands to hold car up, Jack up transmission a bit, insert stand or leave jack. Unbolt old crossmember, place new one in. Now work backwars from jacking up the trans. And done!

It just got sunny. We had a week of 30's and than some sleet and freezing rain. But i broke my collarbone, so ive been delayed until now that i can actually do stuff. I also needed to know if there will be any problem putting a s5 tII in an s4 n/a. Everything looks good and seems like there shouldnt be a problem but im still pretty new to rx7's
