cooling issue. overheats.. sometimes?
Okay so story goes: I was driving home from school and the coolant buzzer goes on and off. It's doing so sporatically as if it's not quite sure. I watch the temp guage and it doesn't budge so when I get to my friend's I let it cool and add a little coolant. Overflow tank is full. Problem after that is as I'm driving home, the coolant light isn't fooling around... but the temp guage is slowly climbing so I pull over and shut it down. I check the hoses and there are no visible leaks or anything. I start it again and it's running normally for a while but halfway between the barber and home the buzzer starts going off sporatically again and I watch the temp guage climb. Under normal driving conditions it lowers temps but then random times it will climb up. It's random, kinda like the coolant buzzer but I'm not sure what to do. Thanks for the help.
You should really get a temp gauge. Also you might have air in your cooling system. Take the radiator cap off and pull the EGI fuse. crank the car a few times and put the cap/fuse back in.
i find that its best to let the car cool, take the radiator cap off, and run the car for about 10 minutes... DONT DRIVE IT. just let it run.
That really doesnt explain why your temp is "climbing" tho. Is it climbing danderously high?

I took the EGI fuse out and the rad cap off and turned it over a few times... coolant gurggled out. Then I replaced the cap and fuse and started it and let it run for a few minutes. The RPM stayed high as if it was warming up. Could the wax valve be stuck?

When the engine cooled down, take the radiator cap off and the EGI and have someone crank the engine (not starting).
The coolant shouldn't gurgle out or see any bubbles. If any of the 2, your housing o-ring maybe going bad.

Thank you. I will check the tension of the belts tomorrow. I think it gurgled out the top of the rad cap because I may have over filled it a little when I was shutting up the add coolant light. Could the pressure of the rad cap cause overheating by any means?
