Coolant Loss Problems!

Lately I have noticed that my Add Coolant buzzer has been going off fairly often. I notice that there is extra coolant in the coolant resevoir. So I ensured that the cap was on correctly on the coolant resevoir,
with the tab facing the rest of the car,
I also bought a new Radiator Cap, but it has still been going on, why won't my radiator pull coolant from the resvoir? I also Checked to make sure that the lines from and to the coolant resevoir were free so I blew them out with compressed air, and it didn't seem to be cloged.
I cannot see leakign coolant anywhere.
I checked to see if there were bubles while the engine was running and there were none, there is not smoke from the exhaust. So I am not certain what might be going on.
Thanks For Your Help in advance.
Jeff

I had the same problem and it took me a while to find out where the coolant was disapearing to.
look under the water pump, you'll probably see a streak of dried up coolant. this means that your water pump seals are gone and coolant is leaking out of a small pin hole underneeth the pullies.
you need to replace your waterpump.

you might also want to check the tube that fills it up. On mine, the plastic nipple that the tube is connected to was broken off in a way that the hot coolant would flow into the overflow tank, but suck in air when the engien would cool down.

Could be a coolant seals. How high do you rev your engine? Start your engine with the cap off, then check for air bubbles. If you see a constant flow of bubbles. I think there was a discussion about this.

Unfortunately, if its the coolant seals, you will need a rebuild soon. I have the same problem. I have so far patched it using "Block weld," but it will eventually fail again.
Here is the link on how to patch a coolant seal leak.

the engine doesn't always have to use coolant to have a bad coolant seal.

The engine is Not the cause of the "disapearing coolant" there is no bubbles in my coolant TRUST me I KNOW how to check
As for the nipple, that is good I checked that already, and there is not coolant excaping from my water pump the only thing I can think of is the heater core, but again my carpet is not wet, and I don't see any coolant dripping anywhere... i am running out of ideas. Good Suggestions guys' keep em comming maybe someone will think of something I forgot to check.

Do a compression test on the coolant system.... See if your loosing pressure and maybe the leak will appear when under pressure

Even if you can't feel the water in the carpet, try again... pull the carpet all the way back on the passenger side so you can reach your hand under the foam... I checked mine TWICE and didn't find any water so I was in the same boat...

Then the other day I was doing something with the ECU and noticed the foam was soaking wet... but pretty far back... if it had been raining recently I'd have thought it was from the rain coming in through the door or something, it was that far back.

Check the heater coolant hose at the exit from the engine under the oil pressure sender. On my car it was cracked by the clamp. When the engine was cold there was no leak anywhere. But when it got hot and the pressure in the cooling system rose, it started to leak. Actually such crack may be anywhere where a coolant hose is connected to a pipe. I would suggest bringing the engine to operating tepm then open the hood and watch for any signs of steam. Furthermore, if somewhere is a leak at operating temp the hose from the water pump to the radiator will be soft as when the engine is cold.

Check the rubber coolant hose from the block to the turbo.

I had the same problem with the heater core. I'd check that. BTW the heater core is so much fun to replace.

I say heater core as well. You'll definately enjoy pulling the dash out. A friend of mine had to do that on his FD...

I have already totally dismantled the Interior of my car once. Again will not be too much difficulty.
Anyways,
as for hoses, the heater core send and return hoses are Brand spanking new. and they do not seems to be leaking. As for turbo cooant feed... i no longer have them... I don't have a stock turbo, or water cooled turbo anymore. I am thinking the heater core, I will pull back the Carpet and see what I can find. where was it leaking from the core for you guy's.
Thanks.

Can it be a leaky O ring between the LIM and the rear rotor (coolant passage to turbo)?

Nope that isn't it. I checked all external sources of coolant, the only thing I can think of is the actual Heater core, do you guy's know if it is series specific or matter if it is A/C car or S4 or S5 or will one fit all?
Thanks
