coolant loss interval

I was hoping it was around the thermostat since I think there's a Stant in there and factory is the way to go, no?

When I was under my car some time ago flushing it, the lower rad hose didn't look right before disassembly and after the flush I put it back on and there isn't much of a sleeve where one end goes (the water pump maybe), but the other side (radiator) fit fine. I inverted it and still no go. I ran it like this a while while noting that sometimes after letting my car idle it would leak out a puddle, but soon after would stop. So I suspect it only leaks either when the thermostat is open or closed.

The hose that was on there is a spiral one with a metallic slinky inside, so maybe one end is a different size than the other....making it a specialty hose.

Like when you tighten the clamp it crunches and smootches together ruining the seal. Also, is that plastic. Why such a short sleeve? everywhere else has plenty of room to slide the hose on before torquing it on.

Sounds like you need to buy a proper replacement hose. Also, look under the water pump and see if there's a wet or dirty trail running down the front cover, if so the water pump couldbe on the way out and leaking from the weep hole. Mine just did that 2 days ago

No signs of leaks, but loss at a rate of overflow full mark to warning buzzer/100 miles.

Also, I placed my hand over the tailpipes and it is loaded with moisture.

Does that mean anything?

Update

So my car sits overnight and there is a puddle from right behind the oilpan. I check the overflow and its all good, but went to check radiator and its maybe half a quart low.

Any wisdom before I go at it?

I hate replying to myself so this is more or less a log.

Behind the dynamic chamber beside that plastic piece there is a coolant line that had been off. Got a new clamp and it is on.

When I was diagnostic under the car, the leak drained down to transmission case. I traced it up to under the hood and thought I had located it to a different, BIgger hose that ran to the firewall that I began pulling on and prying with a flathead. It was all fail until I went to the driver's side to get a better angle. That is win I noticed the the loose hose.

So you fixed it? I was going to guess the heater hose. It's common.

As long as you're replacing hoses try using screw clamps instead of the stock spring clamps. They're not a horrible pain to work with and they hold better.

Exhausts always drip a little water on any car. Combustion => CO2 + H20. Just as long as you're not seeing white, sweet smelling smoke you're good.
