converting manual to power steering

I need power steering for drifting. Manual is too heavy. Is there any writeups on converting to power steering with teh manual steering rack?

I drift without power steering.. IMO it's better when cutting the wheel there's a lot less play for you to over steer or under steer..

You must replace the rack and add in all the pump, lines, computer, etc to make it work. Go for the S4 (all) or S5 TII power steering system, the S5 NA setup isn't as good.

The racks are fundamentally different, it cannot be "converted" to power steering.

im in socal. rowland heights area to be exact. Im down for a trade, but where are you located it at? and why would you want manual steering over power steering? I hate it lol, so hard to drift compared to them s13s. or anyonewant to sell me a whole power steeringsetup?

my car is a s4 86 converted to s5 turbo 2 motor. The steering rack is still s4 manual..I need powersteering.

LOL if it is "hard to drift with manuel steering" you are doing something wrong. I had rather have the feel of manuel steering anyday over power. I would place money on the problem not being the manuel steering it is a combination of the driver and a car that is not the easiest to drift in the first place (not a huge "drift" fan, but I have done it before when pushing a car to the limits and it is much easier to keep a s13 sideways than a rx7, the rx7 is balanced, refined, and out of the box a good handler, the s13 is not near as balanced).

........ trust me man on adriftevent coarse you need power steering.. Its easy on the streets with manual because its just one turn at a time, on a event, you need to transfer and full lock the steering quick, you need a ALOT of steering input, especialy fc is a twitchy drift car.

If you don't have DTSS eliminator bushings then get them. That will reduce the twitchiness. The DTSS changes the rear toe during hard turns to improve grip without increasing tire wear in the straights like toe normally would (which is why racers change toe and car mfrs stay near zero). Once you lose grip in a turn, it kicks back. So near the limits when it adjusts the toe and past the limits when it snaps back it'll screws with the feel. If it's old and worn out it'll move even more. Good on the street if in good shape, bad for drifting.

Dunno whether or not PS is better for drifting, but it does hurt steering feel. Maybe keep the manual and excercise more? I dunno.
