convertible boot question
I did a search and couldn't find this answer. What is the stock covertible boot made of? Vinyl or leather? I just need to know what kind of conditioner to use.
Also I read in a post that the following on the interior is leather on '91 vert: Seats, steering wheel, shift ****, parking brake handle, and one panel on doors. Can anyone please confirm this or let me know if I am wrong.
Thank you.

Yeah I thought it might be as well, but does anyone know for sure? I'd hate to put leather conditioner on this perfect boot and have it get ruined. Thanks again.

My OEM boot is vinyl. Yours is too, if it is OEM. If it is not OEM, it is probably still Vinyl. Be careful with vinyl treatments. There is a lot of controversy about the usefulness of these types of products. Some say that treatments on vinyl are useful and necessary. Some say they are useless some say they are harmful. Most of the data is either from vinyl treatment companies or anecdotal info such as "I used it once and it destroyed my vinyl ".
I keep mine clean and don't treat it. I clean and treat my leather with Leatherique.

I use it because I have seen leather that was dry as cardboard restored with the product. All my Porsche buddies swear by it.

Yeah I own a 1988 convertable, and it feels, looks, and smells like leather. this is comming from a man obsessed with leather, :-). So most likely I do believe that it is leather, I mean leather seats, leather wraped steering wheel, would make sense to have a leather boot right???

Don't forget the leather storage case for the targa section. A lot of owners, unless they are the original owner doesn't even know that this part exist.

So how many vote for each are we up to for each I don't know what to put on it now. Also as far as the targa storage bag, I was looking in the trunk and in the storage area under the carpet I found the bag still in a bag! It and the boot are both in just about brand new shape. For something over 15 years old I am amazed! Loving my vert!

Not that it's a big deal but I'd say with 99% certainty the OEM boot and targa bags are vinyl. If you press your finger into leather it should make a indentation they slowly shrink back, vinyl will just flex. Check the back of the seats, those are vinyl also. If they had to cover the boot and bags that would be way more leather than the seat and door panels.
Personally I use Lexol on my leather, so far so good. I use Armorall on my vinyl, I'd done this for 20 years and never had a problem with it. I used it on my '79 RX-7 for 14 years and nothing cracked or discolored.
