Question conversion question (not a stupid question either) lol

I have an 87 Se , i plan on doing a conversion to a s5 13bt, now i have the dash out but my question is do i need to convert everything to a s5 ( dash , gauges heater etc) , i mean i have to replace all the wires with s5 wires , so every clip, relay , harness will be replaced with an s5 harness (basically everything will be s5 converted), will i need to convert everything to s5, the wiring harness thats in the car now is all messed up, cut all over the place and wires left stray just cut attached to nothing, so i have to replace all the wires pretty much, but can i get away with leaving some in there or am i just better off replacing everything and getting rid of all the old stuff ? i mean like everything, heater, vents etc, pretty much everything should be replaced in my opinion (but is it even possible , will it fit ?) because i dont know if all the dash is the same and if all the clips will clip into the older s4 stuff. but i thnk itd be easier just to replace it all if its possible rather than monkey around with both s4 and s5 .

the wiring harness was like this when i bought the car ( i didnt know was told it was the cas cuz the car wasnt gettin spark), but all the wires including the chassis harness neeed replacement so im thinking just replace everything including the dash with s5 dash (unless i can just put the s4 dash in with s5 gauges etc, my question is how do i do this ? im a newbie to rx7s and i plan on doing all the work myself , or with one of my friends helping.... i appreciate any help i can get

dude chill out. you will get a lot of negative feedback or blank responses on this site. speaking of which, i was gonna answer your question, but if your gonna call people '****** ********' just because they dont reply exactly as you want, then forget it.

this is more of an opinion, than an actual answer. if it was ME, i'd just say **** it and go ahead and rewire EVERYTHING, so that way in the future i wouldn't have to worry about stupid shitty electrical problems with regards to a fucked up wiring diagram and shitty wires. b/c i mean, if you think about it, the car's already about to be down for a good while.... so if you've got the time, you might as well..

just my $.02

i agree with that , it may take me a while to fix but i have another car to use while i work on this one , lets just hope the other car doesnt break down cuz its beat (90 nissan 240sx with over 170,000 miles - the miles stick on it alot so it prolly has like 200,000 lol)

my best advice on the 240 would be.... drive like a blind grandmother that has to drive behind one of those seeing eye dog things.... just don't be a ricer.... if somebody does a 'ricer fly-by' or revvs up at you.... just laugh to yourself and think about how much fun it's going to be to bring out the 7 once it's done and broken in.... and make everybody else's car your bitch ;-). it'll be fun, man, i'm rebuilding my S4 TII engine for my '90 'Vert as we speak.... it already is almost as quick as most of the built honda's around here.... even though my engine is dying - low compression, seals going out, **** like that.... :-( shitty !!!!

but yeah, i'd just go ahead and rewire the 7. you might as well !!

I think it would be easier to just buy a decent wiring harness from a s4, than swaping out all the guages unless you were to do a full autometer gauge cluster(which would be sick and discreet)and i think that the s4 and s5 use different size idiot clusters too. but if you have enough time, money, and tools to do a full s5 go for it. and just remember you can make anything fit, you just have to be gentle. take lots of pics to, could be good for the archives
