controlling boost

Okay, this might be a really stupid question, but i've just got my new car, now it's running a sort of manual boost controller, inbetween an ebc and a bleed valve.
Anyways, it's set at 15psi, probably hits up to 16-17 though. This, i don't like, it's only running a high flow turbo, which would be okay, cept it's still got the stock cooler, so i want to lower it down to a more safe, 10psi.

Now, the ecu has been re-mapped, it isnt an aftermarket item like a microtech or a haltech, and no, i'm not going to be buying one for at least a little while.

The question is, if i lower my boost, will it be mapped for the lower boost setting? or is it all going to go to hell? I was thinking, it should be fine, since the afm is reading the air coming in, and all the boost controller is doing is saying stop halfway up the guage instead of at 1 bar. So am i right or what?

anything over 12psi on stock fuel system and interheater and your asking for your motor to pop....

manual boost controllers are not as effective as electric one's, my friend put a manual on his skyline and it kept spiking at 18psi and leveling off at 13psi at the least with the **** all the way to the "closed" or "low" setting....

you'll have trouble trying to turn down the boost with a manual boost controller, especially if your wastegate isnt ported....

i haven't checked but i'm guessing the wastegate is ported, the turbos a high flow

why would i have trouble turning the boost down?

not exactly sure, my friend had the same problem you are having, i believe his was a Turbo XS manual boost controller....

it raised the boost more then he wanted, and in the end it was too much so he had to take it out....

well this is the best picture i have (should be attached)

it's an apexi unit, something is going to a solenoid looking thing, i have no idea how it works, but i don't think adding it is going to hold the boost high and not alow it to go down.

but anyways, that's all irrelavent, the main question is, is it mapped for the low boost

If your ECU is remapped (?) then all the "cells" should have been accuately mapped for any boost setting at any RPM range. This is assuming your remap was done by a competent facility.
