Confused
Confused
I found this 1987 RX-7 and it has no turbo markings or boost gauge it even has 14 inch steel wheels. Anyway I did a carfax on the vin and it said that it was a turbo car and it was manufactured in japan. Is it possible that it could be a turbo or a mistake on the vin.

"JM1FC331..."
It's not a convertible, but a normal "3-door" coupe because of the "FC33".
It's a 1987 model cause of the "H" code.
Serial number is "529745".

Let's break it down!

"J" = country origin, "J" is for Japan, standard for all VINs
"1" is USA
"2" is Canada
"3" is Mexico
"M" = manufacturer, "M" is for Mazda, standard for all Japan manufacturers
"T" is for Toyota
"H" is for Honda
"A" is for Mitsubishi
"1" = check digit, for fraud
"FC3" = model type, FC3S, standard for Mazda (as rest of VIN)
"3" = 3-door coupe
"5" is convertible
"1" = non-turbo, U.S. standard
"2" is turbo, U.S. standard
this next digit is a big ? - I've seen everything from numerals to "X" in here
"H" = date code, 1987
"G" is 1986
"J" is 1988
"K" is 1989
"L" is 1990
"M" is 1991
"0" = factory code, Hiroshima - they should be all "0" here as
Mazda only has one automobile plant in Hiroshima
Last 6 digits are the serial number of the vehicle
