Compression Check Done..

Looks like the average is 65... On these numbers, are you suppose to double them or is that just how they are?

So my question is if it is pretty much done for, which should I do?

What compression tester did you use?? if using standard piston tester, did you remove the valve from it?

I don't remember. ITs my buds, and he had all kinds of dif fittings for it. It was like a $150 tester.

Tester is quite simple buddy. Just go to autozone and buy one for 30 or so bucks. You have the guage with a quick disconnect on it for the line that comes with it and then you will also have three diff fitting sizes for your plug holes. Hook up the line to the fitting and screw it into the top spark plug hole (front or rear first, your choice), just have both plugs out. Then go through the steps. I assume you know what they are. Let me know if you don't.

Buy a turbo motor really cheap, rebuild it, save up money, get all your parts together, and drive this motor until your ready to swap. It's on its last leg.

I don't nearly have the time or equipment to rebuild a motor atm... My friend has an engine hoist and mounts, but I don't got the garage space since we have 2 MGs in there.

I think I will maybe buy a turbo motor, send it off to someone for a full rebuild + porting, then swap it in.

you waited until the motor was warm, and held the throttle wide open right? just making sure, a cold motor will give lower numbers

No.. I just did a ghetto check putting it in one whole and turned it over never starting it. I will try it the way someone else told me to do.

Am I suppose to also have the clutch down while having the gas down?

...If you want the car to crank.

And for what it's worth, I am just going to be throwing my j-spec in and starting it up (hopefully). It seems like it is low mileage and sounds like it has good compression.

Worst case scenario, rebuild + large port.

Good luck,
James
