cold heat
It's getting pretty cold outside and my heat isn't working properly. It gets warm but thats about it. I was wondering if there is anything I should check before replacing the console heat unit?

A 190 degree thermostat???? Probably have a 180 in there now or none at all. Hey, a question. Do the buttons on your LOGICON work??? Also when the key is turned on but the engine off, and you slide the **** from blue area to the red area, do you hear a small electric motor running? If its real quiet I can hear one run especially when it hits its stop. How about yours????????????????

Re: cold heat
Sorry this is a bit off topic. But your car kinda looks like mine in your avatar. You have any more pics of your car?

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
I'd follow HAILERS lead, and also would clean & flush (not just drain and fill) the whole cooling system before trying to play with the core.

Since all the buttons work and the lever for the heat seems to work, just get the hotter thermostat. Thats all thats wrong. I have 180 in mine now and its really not adequate even in Texas. You've just got a too cool a thermostat.

I have a somewhat similar problem, even when my fan is maxed out, hardly any air comes out of the vent, especially the driver's. The fan is spinning, but no heat reaches my cold fingers.
Any ideas?

Greddy makes special 15hp version of the heater core. It has a a special fan for up to 18,000 rpm. ONLY avaliable on civics but can be adapted to rx7 spec with a huge wing and NOS stickers on the back.
Seriously, Heater cores go due to inproper coolant changes. Like everyone else said, Use prestone 10 min flush. Twice if you have to. Then see if your heater works. Then check your underwear.
