Clutch calling it quits...time for another

Guys,

I think my clutch is giving out? When i try to accel, the engine RPM would increase by about 300-500 RPM before the car starts to increase speed. Is this a symptom of the clutch giving out? It is the stock clucth w/ 90K miles.

If so, what do you guys recommend? ACT, CF, others...? Also, what is the normal labor hour it would take for a professional to install a new clutch (gotta know so I won't get rip off)? TIA,

Jay

^...help!!!

I got a quote from a local store for ~$725 for OEM parts and 4 hrs labor. That sounds pretty damn expensive to me...

i just wanna know if my symptoms are related to a worn out clutch. TIA.

I've had 3 ACT clutches, 2 in FCs and 1 in my FD. I really like them, good clamping power for mild mods, totally useable on the street. Pedal pressure is slightly higher than stock but perfectly acceptable unless your constantly in stop and go traffic.

I've always installed them myself so I'm not sure on what they cost to install. The FC ACT Pressure plate is ~$135 from Mazdacomp, you can use a stock disc, FD disc or ACT disc...

Unhappy

You have the exact same symptom as me. Yep, its the clutch (thank god for me, it wasnt the flywheel too ). Replaced everything (OEM), for a total of 350 bucks. Your 275$ quote is not bad. Not bad at all...

Thanks guys. Just wanted to confirm that clutch is going bad. I guess it is both a sad and happy case for me. Shelling out money, but getting an ACT. Hopefully, I can get more power to the ground. Thanks,

Jay

hmmm

im looking at a new clutch also....actually, i have a new clutch with only 50k on it, but its just the standard rp disc. Are you saying that all you need is a good pressure plate? that it doesnt matter what kind of disc??? that would be cool, because my rp clutch only has like 5k on it, it was put in before I bought it...if I could just buy the pressure plate for 150 dollars or whatever, that would be great.
