Innovate Display to Instrument Panel Harness Query

Hey is this stickied? Great write-up! I did this on an 88 TII S4 with the Innovate Autotimer to use as a afr gauge, it has a clock too! Its slightly larger than the lc-1 display, you dremel out the same areas, but i had to remove a bottom portion of the white plastic piece (actually it broke trying to ease it in, but i worked in my favor lol). Everything snaps back together and its a clean fit! I read in another thread Satch had mentioned cutting/removing and taping the wires to the clock on the plug to the warning light/clock assembly so they don't short or ground anything. Here are the diagrams for the display and the stock circuit diagram from the FSM (body electrical). The clock stuff is circled. The display unit comes with a relay (Don't flame me for the Bosch 4.2 vs. 4.9 stuff yea yea..) Anyway my question is instead of taping off the wires to the plug, can i use them for my 12v, ign on, and acc on the relay? Red wire going to B (o), Blue wire to Cluster Switch (p)( does this mean ign on?), and Green Wire to ACC (r)?

may have it! I wasnt sure which was which, but I think to hook up my display it goes:
- Red wire on display (for 12v consant) to Red/Black wire (p) on harness
- Blue Wire on display (For IG2 ON) to Blue/Red wire (o) on harness
- Green Wire on display (For ACC IG1) to the Blue/Black wire (r) on harness
- I tape the ground wire off on the harness (q)

Is this correct? My cars apart and no battery atm. If I can use the existing wires since they're right there that would make things easier. Im pretty new to wiring diagrams, and Id rather not tap into the ignition switch. Im already planning to use Add-a-fuses to hook up my 2 glowshift gauges, so i didnt want to use them for the display, too.

The reason i figured the Blue/Red wire is IG2 (ON) is because there is a switch (fuel cut, i think) installed from a previous owner, hooked up to 2 Blue/Red wires under the steering column.
Here are my diagram pics from the other thread so you dont have to jump over.

I know im not the only one whos done this, and it seems everytime i see a video or a writeup for a gauge install etc., the part showing the actual wiring up gets skipped over, its like "once you wire everything up" or "now that is all wired and ready to go.." wtf? I want to see where the actual connections be.. arg! Sorry to vent lol :-)

I did finally figure it all out, thought id update. I was wrong to think i could run the display off of the clock wires because
1) the wires on the display are like 16 ga and the clock wires are like 24 ga.
2) the turbo timer needs to work off the ignition switch itself to work, duh!

so needless to say, when i bought the car it had an old cell phone hookup that I had removed, but the wires were still there, connected to ig1 and accessory on the ignition switch with fused links! cool! so red and green wires on display hooked up to those two under the steering column. the blue wire i actually connected to a relay (12v bosch/tyco spdt 30a v23234-a1001-x036) i installed behind the glovebox and to the alarm system so the timer would work with the alarm system on. (Thanks rob robinette for the turbo timer to alarm system write up!) I had to switch the wires around though, pin 87 unconnected, pin 30 ground wire which i ran down to a bolt down on passenger side, 86 and 85 are for b/y alarm system wires.

However i was able to use the clock power for the wideband controller! i used the L/B wire (r) and ran it to a terminal and plug to make it "official" (thanks easternbeaver.com!) grounds go to the battery ground at ds shock tower and since im hooking the yellow wire on the wideband to ecu, i ran a separate ground from ecu ground on the block to ds shock tower ground.

Everything looks good and works well! Not bad for someone whos never wired up anything.
