make sure your power wires dont have a short, or shorted to the ground wire. power seeks ground and will take the path of least resistance to get there. dont know if that makes any sense at all. hope you find the problem.

sounds like the accessory that you are plugging in is broken or bad

Kinda doubtful since the power wire for reverse is powered by the METER fuse and not the CIG fuse.

yeah, your accessory is bad or drawing too much or your cig light has a short.

What are you trying to plug in?

And was there a reason that you started another thread on this???

the object you are plugging in is probably drawing to many amps for the circuit

I'd probably replace the cig lighter then, and see if that solves it... sounds like it may be broken internally

Here's a few things i've tried:

10A fuse = Cigar lighter works/Sirus Sattelite adapter blows fuse

20A fuse = Cigar lighter works/Sirus Sattelite adapter also blows fuse

30A fuse = Cigar lighter works/Sirus Sattelite adapter doesn't blow fuse, causes clock to go out for a second come back on funny smell little bit of smoke lighter socket unit blows

Going to Lordco to pu a new Cigar lighter socket/plug to see if that helps

cost = $15

Where's the funny smell coming from exactly?

Don't plug anything in for a while in the cig. lighter...see if fuse blows. Just making sure it's not a conincidence.

EGADS>>>NEVER PUT A BIGGER FUSE IN THAN WHAT THE CIRCUIT IS RATED FOR!!!

The fuse is to protect the wiring. If you put too big of a fuse in, the wiring catches on fire and melts.

Why are you trying bigger fuses, when I already told you, that you probably have a bad lighter socket? You can pretty much confirm that just by plugging in the Sirus sat adapter into another car and see if it blows fuses there. If it does, you have a bad adapter. If it doesn't you have a bad lighter socket.

I guess you hate your car and wish to burn it too the ground. Lets hope that you did not burn up your clock panel, because if you did you will now be replacing that as well.

And people wonder why these cars get electrical problems... here is the classic example of why... because someone puts a fuse in 300% bigger than the wiring and circuit is designed for and notices smoke.

See, now you got Icemark upset!

Seriously, he speaks volumes (why didn't I think of trying the Sirus in another car).

Plugged my Sirus Sattelite adapter into a buddy's car, works fine

Phoned Lordco to see if they had the cigar lighter socket in stock they said yes gave me the part # went to pick it up turned out to be the wrong one. Shows in the parts catalog as been the correct universal lighter for my car. guy says he can't help me maybe try a wrecker.

smoke came from the lighter socket unit blowing
and there was no other cars around @ the time to test the plug in adapter
