checking thrust??

i was wondering if i can check the thrust on my engine without the flywheel in place? this is because i have it in the basement and dont want to have to carry the motor up the stairs with the flywheel.
Thanks
Jason

Your engine generates thrust? I must be doing something wrong...

Do you mean end play?

Use a magnet holder on the counterweight.

No flywheel needed.
It's just handy to pry on.
I light bump with a dead blow mallet will move the shaft.
