Changing the fuel level sender

The fuel level sender on my 'vert registers at zero when there's about a third of a tank left. I have a spare, so I'm going to change it out.

I'm assuming I need to depressurize the fuel lines just like when changing the fuel filter, right? Is there anything else I need to do, or is it just unbolt the old one and put in the new one?

Its just like changing the fuel pump, because it is on the fuel pump assembly.
Yes, depressurize the lines.

Make sure that you have good clean Phillips screwdriver tips. The screws are pretty soft and you don't want to bugger one up.

You should also replace or clean the fuel pump sock while you are in there. Also check for floating crap in the gas. Great time to take care of this assorted stuff.

3 of the screws are jacked up. I have no idea how I'm going to get them out. I've soaked them in PB blaster, used rust remover, cleaned them out with a wire brush and compressed air... Nothin'.

Drill the HEADS off, and remove the cover/pump. then remove the SHANK of the screws with your fingers or visegrips.

I was hoping to avoid that, but I guess I can go with it.

You may be able to grab the heads with the vice grips. I've done it with a few screws (head light cover screws). And a couple screws on throttle body doohickies.
