I posted not too long ago about a major power loss. After a compression check (well, if you can call it that), I found very little compression. But I also found out that my CAT is bad. Maybe this back-pressure could cause the bad compression? Please help. I have duals coming tomorrow........

what kinda numbers were you getting? Did you do it on a warm engine at WOT?

Take the damn cats off!!! RX-7s have a very restrictive exhaust. You can get a very noticable power increase if you run straight pipe....plus you can shoot some pretty big flames, when you rev up to high rpms. Just get a hook up on your expection. CATs suck!!!

Just gutt'em and see if that helps. If not, then that wasn't your problem to begin with. you can do a pipe or new cats some other time.

had the same problems.....
first change the plugs and wires
fix/change the timing
gut the cats
change the oil and coolant
while the compression is only in the high 80's motor pulls strong and the glowing cats and major backfiring went away

Now to the new problem (by the way, the cat removel helped very much), but the metering pumps went out .......Now for new apexes and the pain of mixing. MY FRONT ROTOR COMMITTED SUICIDE!!!!!!
