Cat break in?

ok I got a custom 3" cat put into my RB exhuast yesterday I want to go to emmissions before I start ripping stuff off for my intake and TID. how long should I drive before hand? does a new cat need to be broken in or burned off? I drove for around an hour yesterday. and I'll definaly drive for a while before the test to get it nice and hot. but is it ok today? or should I wait a few days/weeks for the new cat?... PS it's so much quieter!!

haha so u want to break in or burn your new cat ey.. how mean u r

Nothing works as good when its brand new as it does after a couple days of using it. I drive it for a couple days before hand and then go get tested just to be safe.

ya if I fail I'm "moving" there next time my insurance is up got another 9 months so I not worried now. but I figured I had a better chance at passing now then in 9 months. so I'll get it outa way for a while.

Scott just have a question about your custom 3" cat you used.

Can you describe it some more... was it pulled off some other high performance car and teh flanges/connections changed to fit you needs?

it's a 3" universal magaflow. it just comes with 2" or so of pipe on either side with no flanges. I bought 2 flanges and gaskets from racing beat. and had a local shop weld in some pipe between the cat and new flanges to make it fit.

Also scott u said that the cat decreased boost creep. Is this a proven and tested fact or is this just what u have found with your car??

If it decreases creep i will get a cat once i get a new exhaust system.

ya it cut a few psi off. because it's a restricter.

I run 1psi less boost now with 3" tid mod and cone filter with cat. then with stock air box and no cat.

so now it's time to set the boost controller

my only concern is how long the cat will last before melting...
