Carbon Build Up On JDM S4 T2 Should I Rebuild?

OK I just got my engine from ebay (S4 T2) with tranny and everything but wireharness and ecu with 40-45,000 miles. As soon as i got it i took the bottem spark plugs out and turned the engine over with a rachet. The rear was strong with 3 soild chugs, but the front only has one chug that barely has power to it so i put some ATF in the front turned it over a lot of time and alitte backwards, but nothing got better. The engine looks chean and turn is fine with really almost no play, so I was wondering if i should get the akins 87-88 Turbo 2mm over haul kit A and get their 2mm apex seal set because i want thing engine to last and upgrade everything as I go. This is my first car and engine im using but my car is already been custom on the exterior and interior so I just need to finish this. Anyone have any idea thats would help me get a soild engine going?

Thanks , Nick

P.S. Since I want to over haul the engine with new seals I want to get the racing beat porting templates since i have decent experience and thats both the reasons I want to do this.

Typical j-spec quality. Like I tell everyone they make good cores "sometimes".

Your going to have to tear the engine down, measure everything and determine what all is out of spec to know exactly what parts you need.

I also agree with BlueTII's comments.

I bought a jspec engine and tranny for $500, it went bad (previous guy bought it for $1200 or so I tihnk) so he gave it to my friend for cheap, then I bought it. From what I can tell on mine, is that it has 2 stuck apex seals or flattened springs on the rear rotor, so I might not be doing more than the $540 Atkins A kit if i'm lucky depending on the specs of the other seals. Take off the exhaust manifold and see turn the motor and try and push on the apex seals one by one. If one or two are stuck or don't move much, yes you'll probably only need kit A.

Well they move a little, so I figure they're most likely flattened springs over stuck seals. Plus I don't have the car to put it in yet (my na is too junky I dont trust it for a turbo engine lol) and i'm getting a 87 TII for $200 sans engine and tranny, which I already have. But I gotta' wait til the other guy gets the title. PLus I wanna' port it anyway.
