Angry car will not start

Need help. I have an 88 vert that i use for work. Started car to go to work, fired for a few seconds and then went off.It is refusing to start.Checked spark, fuel , everything is ok there. Tried the unflooding method, which i have done before, but the engine turns over but won't fire. I'm not sure what else to look for.Any ideas? Thanks

check your spark plugs..if they are covered in fuel then your car might be severely flooded. This usually happens when the car is turned on for a few seconds then its shut off. Doing the unflooding prodedure once might not be enough to unflood it. It took me 5 times ( and atf) to get it going.

I have been using the unflooding method for a week. When i first checked the plugs, they were covered in fuel, however on my last attempt, i checked them and they were bone dry.

try push starting it. It works for almost everyone and you dont have to put oil/atf in the motor.

NO PUSH START!!!!!! Hehe. Anyway, check that you have fuel going to the engine first. Check fuel pump and injectors. I noticed that you said it the plugs were covered in gas at first. If you continue to try and start it, fuel should still be pumping into the chamber, flodding it. I don't know, that is the only thing I can think of. Well, check the intake as well, make sure nothing is sticking. Also, I don't know if you have to push the gas to get it started, but if you do, and it is not starting, check the throttle cable. Just a few thoughts. Hope something helps.

If it runs for a short time you might want to check and see if your cats are clogged. If they are they will make your car choke up and not run.

not sure whihc way your trying to unflood the car, but disconnect your fuel pump and pull the plugs out, crank it for about 30 secs or until there is no more gas comming out, put a new set of plugs in, and connect the pump back up again.

you dont have to unplug the fuel pump..just take out the EGI fuse from under the hood....you can clean the fuel from the spark plugs like i did and they should still be functional....i would push start it since you have already done these things to no success.

i wonder if this has anything to do with it.When i bought the car 3 years ago, it had a leaking water seal, hence overheating. I managed to fix the problem by using block seal(took a couple of tries).Ran perfect until couple of weeks ago, when driving anywhere the temp needle would go th near max but then go to middle and stay there. However after each trip, i had to put water in the car.Was going to use block seal method again, but car broke down before i got around to it.Any ideas if there is another problem, preventing starting.
