Dude, that's exactly my problem, except mine's doesn't come back up to a grand that quickly, mine's stays down longer and sometimes doesn't come back up unless I give it a little gas. But it never stays.

ya i have the same thing except when mine is cold it will drop so low it shuts off...i think it could be the fittings around the bov...im tired of it so im getting rid of all my rubber hoses around the turbo area and putting a front mount...i think that may solve the problem...you might want to get a compression testing and see what you are putting out...it should be around 16 Hg is what ive been told. just some ideas for you

This is funny i also have the same problem,my car is a NA. Someone told me it has to do with compression and another told me it's cuz my seals are old. I heard a bunch of different things.

p.s. my friends 3rd gen just started doing the same thing.

more than likely it's your throttle positioning sensor, or tps. do a search, or dl the factory manual and test out to see if functional using multimeter.

see it doesnt seem like that, my major guess would be seals... but i just cant see that being the problem, the symptoms dont match that well, cause i still have a lot of power.

I have the EXACT same problem as you. I tried everything to fix this... Replaced TPS, etc... Then I started messing around with the actual throttle cable -- where it attaches to the throttle body. It seems loose there and very touchy/slacky. It has a mind of it's own. Not a very good description, but you may want to play around with that. I can also pull back on my gas peddle and make the car almost die. Then I barely touch the pedal down and it will idle around 750 until I touch the pedal again. lol.

I'm curious if anyone has had any problems with the throttle cable.

Good luck.

By the way - my car runs perfect when I'm not idling. Sometimes when I am driving my car like I stole it, the rpms will dip down and the car will almost die when coming to a quick stop or something.

Replaced the throttle position sensor and thermowax, and problem was gone.
