i got the filter from a friend, its a genuine mazdaspeed but im afraid that it might not pass smog. its already hard as it is to make it pass, hopefully somebody can share their experiences with these types of intakes

It should help but im not a smog guy hehe. Run the OEM cool air intake to a box around your filter. Try and cut down on that hot air coming in.

i doubt u won't pass... it will not affect any emissions
unless if the smog shop don't know sh*t and they want to be safe than sorry

check the FAQ and follow the things to pass smog.
oil change, spark plugs, etc etc....

oh and have a new cat.... if u are really afraid of not passing, run the airpump directly into the cat (but don't drive it for too long on freeway, it can easily blow the cat)
