Car has no bottom end

I bought my 90 convertible from a guy who had an engine swap. Ever since the swap the car has had no power on the bottom end. In first gear its nearly in possible to get the tires to spin off and its even a manual car. My dads saturn has more get then my rx7. Any suggestions on why its so slow?

Though I am no expert, you may want to check the auxiliary ports if your engine is a N/A. If those are stuck open, your low end will suffer, though you should be able to spin the tires. You may want to check compression also.

Yep, probably the aux ports are not hooked up or working correctly.

Did you/he remove the air pump when the swap was done?

I will have to talk to the guy and see if the air pump was replaced. How can i check to see if the aux ports are working correctly?

It either HAS a air pump or does NOT have an airpump. Look under the hood.

You can also have an airpump that has crapped out on you. I've had one get destroyed interally due to a bad check valve letting exhaust gases inside it. The thing flung all sorts of metal into my ACV too. On a S5, no airpump or a bad airpump means -40hp (6PI and VDI). Of course, this is power available only above 3800rpm & 5200rpm.

For a loss of low-end power though, it's probably stuck 6PI actuators. When they're open under 3800rpm, they kill intake air velocity.

Yep, you only have power between 3500 and 6000 RPM with no low end and no top end on a S5 with no (or a non working) airpump.
