Cant select gears !

I had a clutch problem, and I replaced the old clutch... ( New clutch, pressure assembly, pressure bearing, needle bearing) Worked fine for a few hours and now it feels like it wont release the clutch... Clutch working sylinder perhaps ???

--> Cant select gears when the engine is running...

Also the starter has a slight problem...

1) First when starting: Nothing happens... ???
2) The second time I try to start: Horrible cracking sound ???
3) Third time: Starts beautifully

What the hell is going on ???

Any advice would be great... Thanks in advance already

Did you install the new clutch yourself, or take it to a shop? Did it always have the starting problem or did that just start up after the clutch install?
If you installed the clutch yourself, did you line everything up right? Has there been any fluid loss from the clutch master cylnder, did you use the old clutch master and slave when installing a new clutch, and lastly what clutch did you use?

As for the starting problem, I would remove the starter and and blot it to a work bench or put it in a vice, and apply power from a battery, you just have to give it a quick jolt, i use car batterys see if you have to give it 3 jolts, or not, if you do replace the starter. you might wanna check the fsm on troubble shooting the starter. Good luck.

What do you mean 'can't select gears'? Do you mean that when you try to shift, that you can't shift into gear: you push, but it won't go? I've seen that be caused by a bad pilot bearing.

The horrible cracking sound sounds horrible. You may want to eyeball the flywheel teeth too, to see if any of them have broken off. Hopefully, it's your starter.

No fluid loss, and all the clutch components are new. The clutch made by Exedy, kevlar clutch...

I heard the solenoid of the starter might be bad, is this possible ???

When I push the clutch down, and try to shift into a gear the shifter stick wont let me... And the pilot bearing is new, hopefully it did not broke during the clutch change...

Have you tried adjusting the clutch pedal so that it begins to resist just when you start to push it? It might not be pushing the pressure plate springs enough to fully disengage the clutch maybe.

I'd take the starter into an autozone or some such and see if they can bench test it for you. Solenoid could be bad too.

When rebuilt my engine I put the clutch disc in backwards (i didn't know it had a front/back) and it did something like what you are experiencing, but no crunching or anything. Can push in the clutch, but can't select gears or anything. I could select gears with the engine off, but once the engine is running, nothing. But mine didn't work at all from the get go...

I ended up taking it to clutch doctors and having the clutch replaced, they said it the disc was kind of messed up...

Good luck.

I saw a clutch release fork that had a crack down the middle. When the clutch pedal was pressed the fork would deflect instead of pushing correctly.

The test I told you about will help you narrow down what might be causing the problem, if the starter spins up just fine the first time you give it a quick zap, then you know that the starter solenoid is working, In that case you need to check all the wireing, if the wires are good look at your flywheel (this can be a pain in the ***, unless the transmission is coming down already, then its easy). Don't quote me but I would bet chash money that the starter is about toast.

Another quick test that can be done with the starter on the car, its kinda hit and miss weather or not this one will work but has worked for me befor, try taping the starter with a hammer a few times, you dont have to hit it hard, but dont be to nice to it then try to start the car, you might want to repeat this a few times over the course of a day or two. if you tap the starter, and it works fine, its about toast Good luck!!!
