It is possible to use N/A rotors in a turbo engine. They are the same size, just different compression. What level of boost is "safe" has been and still is widely debated.

If you know what you're doing, it is possible.
If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it.

yea i was woundering the same thing cause i have a S4 with a new motor and i dont want to pull it to do anything crazy to it, so i was curious if you could turbo a N/a but just run 5 or less psi, my friend said thats pretty much the safest number to have:P. I just didnt make a topic cause i thought i was going to get flamed or something lol

Yes you can do it. I built my motor with 9.4 compression rotors and have the boost set at 12psi with an rtek 1.7 and 750cc secondaries. Very fast, no problems with the higher compression. 9.4 really isn't that much.

From his original post, I thought he wanted to know if you can use the 9.4:1 rotors in a turbo engine block. This is easy to do, as you just rebuild the motor with the different set of rotors.

If you are talking about adding a turbocharger to a N/A engine block, it is also possible but it's a bigger pain in the ***.

Yeah you can turbo an N/A or high compression motor, but you have to tune it carefully, and pretty much throw out the idea of using the stock N/A ecu as it stands.

you can run 15 psi on a NA rotors no problem, but TUNING is VERY critical, at least more critical than a normal t2 engine.

You can run boost on any compression motor but as boost and compression increase so does the risk of detonation and ignition timing and fuel mixtures become much more critical. I prefer higher compression they spool turbo's faster and respond to boost great

I would suggest some type of alcohol injection system if you are wanting to run much boost at all(if you arent going to be running race gas taht is )

well i wont be running race fuel .. i was just loioking for somthing that will spool up fast freeing up some low end power ... and it qwould seem a higher compression spools twice as fast and is much more responsive as apposed to a 8;5;1 engine .... i wasnt looking for much more boost than say 15psi
