Thumbs up 3rd gen 1/4 mile times, and kills:D

Well sorry mods...i don't realy know where to put this. But feel free to move it.

Anyways whent to the track this evening. It was about 80f, with winds out of the south, 5-10mph.

Anyways running 9-10lbs I ran a best of

RT .417 (yeah i red lighted so what!)
60ft 2.086
330 5.572
1/8 8.483
mph 86.38
1000 10.942
1/4 13.030
mph 105.77

I did'nt think it was to bad....but i think i could have done better. O-well

But anyways...i was killing your average big block morons, white trash etc running my 10bls or so. Couple SS comaros...some mildy built mustangs etc. Then, in throught the gates i see this white TT supra...instatley my mind starts racing. I was thinking it was this T78 supra that the owner of horsepowerfreaks owns. But it turns out to be a bpu supra that was making around 450rwhp. Kinda a releif. But anyways the guy turns out to be realy cool, and we talk for awhile. From what he said, he was having some boost issues. So i ask him if he wants to race, just for fun. (of course i turned up the boost a turn on the ol home depot controller. ) We line up, and i run a 13.089@111.34,@12-13psi (traction issues...go figure )and he ran a 13.9@105.70. He too had traction problems but he said that all it was boosting was 1 bar. So in the end..yeah he was having problems, but a kill is still a kill.

In the end i ran a best time of 12.803@107.51 on 11-12psi.

My favorite run on 13psi was

rt .645
60 2.188
330 5.687
1/8 8.524
mph 89.09
1000 10.912
1/4 12.924
mph 114.75

As you can see...the thing realy ran in 4th gear. I know i need to practice, as this was my first run in the 3rd gen of the season. I'm hoping to get it into the 12.5s@115. Then i'll be happy. Something else that is still holding me back i think is the stock cat back...maybe i should buy a cat back before a power-fc?

Tell me what you guys think! Later, CJ

Very nice!!!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun especially beating that supra!!!

Throw on some slicks and you should be running low 12's.

Good luck!

Anthony

Those are some nice runs - amazing what 3 psi can do for your trap speed 105 to 114 mph - wow! Don't be ashamed of high 12s at 114 mph - that's a great run for your mods, especially with a stock exhaust - get that thing off of there..they are ugly!! oh, and restrictive.

I did'nt mention this before, but when i decided to turn up the boost, i ran a bunch of cool water over the intercooler, and radiator. I only wish i would have done it when i was running 10psi. O-well. CJ

Sweet runs Cj!

I'm bummed when I see guys running very low 13's at 105-106mph because the challenge car was running 13.4's @ 105 mph, even with 1.9=2.0 60' times.

I've gotta get an ECU and a IC.

I ran a 12.3 with a bonez high flow cat.
Took it off the next trip to the strip and put a midpipe on thinking wow maybe 12 flat ......
I ran the same et w/o the high flow cat and only 1 mph faster. Now I just leave the cat.on all the time as it must flow well.

Just thought I would ask, is 108mph a good number or bad for a 12.3 pass?? I have noticed guys going 115mph but slower times?

Skateworld - A 12.3 @ 108 would indicate to me one of 2 things. Either he had a AWSOME launch, like a 60 foot of around 1.5 or 1.6 or he was sandbaging and let up toward the end. Say a car that should have ran a mid/high 11 but let off the gas toward the end on the track.

Some of you guys need to invest in 2 eztra stock wheels and mount some race rubber on them no matter if its slicks or drag radials. It will make such a difference, way more than any other mod!!!!

With a trap of 114 you could have hit around 12.2 with a 60foot between 1.85 - 1.95. With a 1.89 60 foot I ran 12.3x @ 113.

keep it up and go spend some $ on tires!!!!

Stephen you must be high! You know I got the MT ET drags on the freaken wheels we went in on together!!! My 60 foot time was 1.89 when I ran 12.3 @ 108mp! I never really thought about it but it seems kinda odd with that bad 60 foot time. I never heated the tires just pulled up and went...

Oh, i didnt realize it was your time you were talking about, I thought you were talking about someone elses times. I dont know man, you might have been loosing some traction at shifts like form 1st - 2nd, how knows. Especially since you didnt heat them up. When I ran a 12.3 it was with a 1.89(pretty funny huh) and I had a 113 trap. I've known quite a few people let off some right around the end thinking they were already past the light but really had some left to go. Is that possible??? Maybe it would have been a 12.0 or something and you just let up early not realizing it.

108 definatly sounds low to me with a 12.3 and a 1.89 60 foot. Could have been a reading error also, I've seen it happen but its usually drastic so you know its a error. I know a friend that crossed the line at 999mph!!!!!! Thats pretty damn fast for a 14.5 second et haha

BTW - My comment about some people needing some good rubber wasnt directed at you. I was talking to all these guys with real high traps and not so good of et's. I knew you had the M/T's. lol

Well I must say my comfort level wasnt very good with the ET Drags and no tubs @ 100+mph... I was letting off and slowing asap!! So maybe I let off to soon. I guess I need to go back down and see if I can do better.

There are two sets of lights inthe traps that average the distance between them to get your speed, so if you don't stay in it at the line, your speed will drop a little.
