KY Cai setup with reverse cowl scoop

Is there any mod I can do to my hood to keep engine cooler(ex: reverse cowl scoop like on camero Z28)? Also I wanted to install a cai with a cold air box, sealed by closing the hood, will this kind of hood effect a cai maxium operation. What is the most efficient way to make a cai perfom properley for my 86 rx7 na?

If your car is stock I would just leave it like that.

Yes, of course you can mod the hood like a Z28. I don't understand the question.

If your engine is running too hot then it has some type of problem that you should get fixed by a mechanic.

Your car already has a CAI from the factory. The stock CAI air box is a little bit restrictive, but if your engine is stock then it will not make much difference. Restrictions make more of a difference at higher airflow rates, so if you have a ported engine with a high-performance exhaust system, then you may want to upgrade the intake. Otherwise, you can just buy a simple drop-in K&N filter and call it good for 10 years or a million miles, and spend your money on more important performance items like a nice exhaust system, suspension parts, tires, and brake pads.

A "proper" CAI setup requires over $3,000 worth of parts, including a standalone EMS, individual throttle body and manifold, and a custom air box. See page 11 for an example:

I have a street port and Rb exhaust no cats,no header. I been told a cai will help improve performance and my car dos'nt run hot I just wanted to take advantage of the areodynamics of a reverse cowl to push out some of the engine hot air out. I just dont know if the cowl and cai will work indepently of interfere somehow, since I'm using the closed hood to seal off my cold air box?

Why a cowl instead of a drop vent style like Sexy Style or Mazdaspeed hoods if its going to be used for cooling?

I know cowl hoods are used as an intake to take advantage of the pressures generated by the angle formed from the hood meeting the windshield.

They look nice, but seem way too expensive for my budget. I was just gonna use a small reverse cowl. Will it work with a cai and box sealed by the hood getinh air from front bumper, pass side near brake vent?

the cowl at the rear on the Z-28 is a ram air style, which uses the high pressure area at the bottom of the windshield to feed air back INTO the engine, it doesn't pull air out..

Will the cowl blowing air up under my hood from the windshield help keep my engine cooler? What type pulls air out?

as said before, the cars came from the factory and worked fine with the stock configuration so if you think you need to modify the car to keep it cool, likely you have some issue at the root that needs to be fixed instead of chopping up the car to try and cool it down.
