A/C pump

just an easy question, is it easy to take off the AC pump and what also needs to be removed?

i also want to tie open the 5th and 6th ports, is this a good idea?

how does the car run with ports tied open?

thanx appreciate the info., PEACE!!

Its easy to remove the AC compressor.

Wiring open your Aux ports will cause you to have some loss of low end torque.

I didnt think so, I just compensated by kepping the RPMs up a little.

Are your Aux ports not working?

thanx i will try that. i know the one by the firewall works fine(pushed in with not much pressure) otherwise i wouldnt be able to go over 4000 RPM's!!

Actually, technically speaking they are called Aux ports, and they really arent numbered (like 5 and 6).

if you realy want to be sure jumper a wire from the battery to the 5/6 port soleneid and give it a little bit of gas. the ports the ports are desinged not to open under load (like when your looking at them with the car parked) so you have to hot wire em. you need to raise the rpm to about 2k so the air pump developes enough pressure. good luck.

look at the haynes manual digrams to find the solenoid and a better explanation of the actuation system

what are you talking about he has an S4 the air pump does nothing for the ports in S4's

I would say if your auxilary ports don't work clean them out and they will work just fine. it is pointless to wire them open because you gain nothing that you would not by cleaning them and you loose some low end tourqe. As for the a/c pump you can remove it easily but if you want to remove all of the a/c system you must take out the lines, condensor, dryer, etc.

doing a thread reviveal cause I'm still a little confused about removing a/c. I removed the pulley which I guess is the pump, removed the condensor and the black bottle looking thing next to it that runs the a/c line to the fire wall which I also removed. Now attached to the pulley was a rubber hose that's for air right? And what else do I need to remove I do have pictures of everything if you guys want to see. And last now when I start my car I hear a skritch coming from the power steering did I over tighten the band or related to the a/c?
