sould i part my car out?

Well, due to not having any interest in anyone buying it... I am considering parting my 88 n/a out... sorry if im not supposed to post anything like this here..

Id be looking to get a goal of around 1200 for everything, id prolly sell the shell and everything else to pick and pull... heres the "desirable" parts on it. do you think thats a fair goal?

LSD
ACT clutch (not sure what model, but its still in really good shape)
t2 aluminum hood
all polyurithane bushings (currently installed on car)
aftermarket sway bars
kouki tailights, fresh from japan. (not yet installed)
5 lug all around w/ the 4 pot front calipers up front
short throw shifter

What's wrong with your fc to begin with? As long as it isn't some heap $1200 sounds reasonable.

the reason why i dont want to keep it is i traded it for a bike.. yes a bicycle. and i got it and it was fine when i drove it 85 miles home. then when i started driving it around here it started smoking and such. and i wanted to rebuild it and turbo it. but i dont have the money or interest in going and buying a t2 motor and rebuilding that and turboing that, since i just found out that turboing a 6 port is a lot of money too, and theres no guarentee with a turbod n/a motor. i know cars arent cheap. but i really dont want to go through all that hassle, just to make it so i can turbo a car...

heres my f/s thead on the car:

N/A's are cake dude. I honestly wish I still had my N/A for the simple fact my life would be easier and I'd probably have more money today. N/A engines can be had for cheap and can run forever if properly maintained. I think if you sit down and take inventory on what you'd need to do to get this squared away you'd see it won't take much.

I personally love 6 port turbos. 1)N/a motors are a hell of a lot cheaper then TII kegs. 2) You just port a TII lim and your good to go.

There's not much going into TII a n/a or swapping a TII motor, but it all depends on how much mechanical skills you have.

that is true.. but i want something i can boost. my heart is kinda set on a ka-t datsun 510. i know thats a lot of work. but i know 5+ dudes easily who know just about everything about ka's and such. and only 1 or 2 guys who know anything about rotaries and i told em i wanted to boost, and what they were getting at was the only right way to do it would be to buy a t2 motor.. and thats honestly not worth it to me...

KA-T is going to be a whole different nightmare compared to 13BT at a reasonable boost level. And a lot more expensive to build.

dual cams are dirt cheap now a days. because kids want the sr's... my friend bought his dual cam for 225.. yeah it will need to be rebuilt. but if i get a 510 shell without that much rust it shouldnt be too bad...

edit: hell if i really wanted to i could just keep the 13b from the partout and throw it in my 510 after a rebuild..

But, then you’re in the same spot you are now, only you’ll have another car, that needs work maybe even more than this one; moreover, a rebuild.

Why would you want something that 5+ people have, to fit in? With an rx7 you are looked at as having something different, none norm and interesting... If you wanted to boost then why did you buy it in the first place?

You could probaly parts it out easily for $1200. Little stuff like interior parts and electrical could put you over the 1200. mark.

i didnt buy it... i traded it for a bike. i knew what was in it so i didnt hesitate to swap.

if i didnt have to buy a whole completely different motor, rebuild, then turbo. id prolly keep it.

Try and sell the car as one Whole car.
If you part it out,you are gonna have parts all over the freakin place.
I got parts in My Shed,Behind my shed,Under my Mobile home,IN my Closet, under my Bed,.Beside me,,****,I got them Everywhere!.
If you traded it for a bike, then really you are not gonna be out much.
Sell it,move on and you don't have to Worry about tripping over old car parts!

lol. I can't sell it, that's my main problem... I know there is easily over 1k in parts on the car. And I put it up on ebay for 1050.. No one has bid on it. With 1 person watching. I know parting out can be messy. But once I've met my quota for the car. The rest is going off to pick and pull..

I bought my car for 700... Sold 600+ in parts basically paid 50 bucks for it. Then i bought a rebuild engine for 500$ from someone on this forum, removed engine my self and paid 300$ to install my newer engine. Total cost 800+ for a clean s5 with rebuild streetport...and I still have more parts lol. My point is be patient and think about ur next move.

ps I'f you part out I need interior pieces lol
