Building a roadrace car. PARTS

My friend picked up an '87 2nd gen for 100 bucks. Straight body, no rust, incomplete interior, and with a running motor that needs a major rebuild.

But here it is, in all it's glory, at the moment. We've gone through it and stripped most everything out so far, including vaccum lines, radiator, and are prepping the car to get the motor pulled.

If you want any parts off of it, let me know. We've got a lot of pretty good condition stuff on it. Body panels and glass are going to stay on the car until we get some perspex windows in, and start fiddling with the body. front wiper motor stays, but the rear wiper motor is in good shape. Carpet is good, it just needs a shampooing to bring it back. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them! I'll answer them as best I can, but the car isn't mine. It's my friend's (the owner of a street rod shop where my 240sx and bmw M Coupe have been built) car, and I am simply helping him with it in my spare time.

This isn't some crappy "We'll mawd it as we drive it!!!!" thing. This car is not going to leave the shop's compound until It's done.

We tore it out already, and will probably do something with aluminum.

First of all, read the FAQ, archives, and do searches so that you don't get it flamed.

Anyway, I'm actually impressed with the exterior for $100. Is this going to be an N/A car? Either way, cooling mods are important. Use an OEM thermostat and a qualty aluminum rad. The stock oil cooler is pretty good (way better than an FD) but the rubber lines always leak. Replace those with stainless steel, which are available from www.mazdatrix.com

Oh and btw, that looks like an early 86. You can tell because the coolant overflow reservoir is on the driver side by the coils instead of in the front. They moved it to the front following a TSB.

I am pretty sure he said 87, but I don't know. We won't be using this forum much as a resource, since we're just going out own way.

This car will be an ~375-425 rwhp car, with a single turbo setup.

The car was a steal for 100 bucks.

How much for the hatch with rear wiper? I have a "lighter" one off a base model with no wiper motor I can trade/cash for yours?

I took the wiper motor itself off the car, do you want the motor itself?
