Broke my UIM

So i was removing the Dynamic Chamber, throttle body and UIM as a whole piece to fix a fuel leak. Note the leak appeared after I replaced the OMP lines and obviously didn't attach a fuel line well enough. When I lifted off the UIM, the section (1.5" or so) where the front passenger's side nut goes just ripped off.

Two questions:

1) Does the UIM get brittle and tend to break? (ie has anyone seen this happen before?)

2) I plan on getting this welded back Monday. Will this be a permanent fix or should i search the junkyards for a replacement?

If you decide to hunt for a replacement, hit me up. I have all the intake components for sale cheap.

THink I've decided to hunt for a "new" one at the junkyards. Probably an easier fix than welding. If i can't find one locally I'll let you know acid.
