BOV mods
I modified my BOV.. I plugged the hole where it went to the TID (I'm making a TID soon.. but till then, that will do)
and open air vented it, with a piece of hose about 1' long and a 1/2" check valve on the end of that.
I can hardly hear it, ever. (I know it works).. it's just really quiet. Is there anything I can do to get more sound out of it?

my stock BOV (vented to the atmosphere) makes lots of noise, at least when I create any boost. it just goes "WOOSH". however, it does leak at 8 psi which is why I'll be getting a new BOV soon.

i would think, though practically immeasurable(sp?), any air back into the intake is good air as long as the afm catches it. but i dont even know how the stock bov's are setup.

if you get an aftermarket BOV, the line that goes back into the TID has to be plug, anything after the AFM has to be airtight or ur idle will be bad.
when i vented my stock BOV i coudn't keep idle, i had to hack a hole inthe piping to plug that line from the TID to the pipe on my FMIC....
when you vented it. can u keep idle?

There is a performance advantage to venting to the atmosphere (albiet a small one). Turbo compressers are not 100% efficient so if the air is placed back in the intake track it ads unneccesary heat (prob. a negligable amount though)

Get a Turbo XS! Those things sound like a deranged locomotive when you are coming off boost!
does turbo XS make one with the 'chirp' sound?

Really, there is no advantage to open venting the stock BOV. If you want the noise, get an aftermarket valve. They're cheap. But really, there's no advantage to an aftermarket unit either until you start to run increased boost levels.
