bouncing RPM's
I have an '88 RX-7 SE
when ever i try to hold it at 1500, 2000, or 2500 RPMs it will drop about 200-300 RPMs then go back up and drop again. it will keep bouncing until I let off the gas or give it more gas. it doesnt happen when im accelerating, only when i try to hold it.
ive tried changing the spark plugs, air filter, and O2 sensor and it still happens.
PLEASE HELP ME

Sounds like an intake leak. check all of your vaccuum lines for cracks, etc....if they are hard then they probably are not sealing well and need to be replaced. Could also be an intake gasket. Try spraying carb cleaner around where your manifold meets up and see if this raises your idle. If so you need to take off your manifolds and replace at least one gasket.

i did the carb trick and nothing happened
i tried to have my auto shop teacher look at it and he said its could be cause it is running rich, but doesn't know about anything rotary engines.

My last TII did that and I got a better ground and cured the problem. I used a hole above the #2 (rear) Trailing spark plug and ran a 10 gauge wire to the (-) side of the battery. Bottom line a big fat ground from block to chassis. It starts better too. Couldn't hurt. Oh yeah for a better set up. solder everything, minimize the amount of crimps you use.

Three little letters... T.P.S.!
ALso- there is a fuel-cut linkage/diaphragm on the front of the TB- you'll know which one it is because if you push it the engine will rev EXACTLY how you said... check it, it way be jammed or something.
but that is usually a (very) misadjusted TPS.
Reset the ECU (unhook battery for 10 min) and adjust the TPS (WHILE WARM!!) to spec.
