i wouldnt do **** on the stock fuel system of an n/a, if you are going as far as putting a turbo and manifold and downpipe and charge piping, how hard is it to add a cheap additional fuel injector controller? even putting two 550s and running 8lbs you could do it safe like that. save your cash, buy a used haltech before you buy anything, install the haltech and fuel injectors, get it running n/a, then add a turbo to the mix. dont get in a rush or you will end up with a blown motor, then get discouraged, then sell it to some kid who wants a project, that joins the military and his parents send it to the junk yard. then your super cool turbo rx7 is some guys clutch fan in a year. good luck bro.

see those 4 things with the brass barbed fittings, those are injector bungs that you can weld on, you just find a spot on the manifold that sprays equally into the runners and mount those and plumb fuel to them. mind you all of this is only cheap if you can turn a wrench and read, if you cant grasp the concept of fuel injection or read and learn then i am completely wasting my time. on second hand, sell your car and go buy a turbo model lol j/k. theres a couple ways to do this, im just trying to give you some ideas.

alright I'll check into all this. I also have a guy wanting me to rebuild his 13b in the mean time so I'm going to have 2 projects going at once...I'm trying to talk him into letting me port it while I have it apart.

and this is how it starts.
you know those threads:
"i bought a car and on the way home it started acting funny and now it doesn't start"
"my engine smokes, are these ports ok?"
"i parked my car and now it doesn't start", "forgot to mention i was running 12psi on the stock n/a fuel system before i parked it"
"my car idles really rough and it's a pain to start"
"how do you do a compression test on a rotary?"
click, read, learn.
everything you need to know about these cars and engines is already out there on this forum. will likely take you a few tries to get it right, some people get lucky and get the engine right on the first try, assuming there aren't underlying issues that usually aren't resolved simply by rebuilding the engine.
i had to rebuild my first engine 3 times to figure out what semi uncommon problems can happen with these engines. electrolysis eating through the aluminum into the spark plugs and exhaust ports for example, something the inexperienced will likely pass over. many people think they are smarter than they think they are, i had 12 years of experience as a dealer technician, factory trained. i felt very humbled with my first experience with one of these motors.

Too old for this
It would require custom manifolds and all that jazz, but are there any physically smaller turbos for low boost? Maybe something designed for a Honda or something?
I ask because I have been wanting to do this for a while. However, my 2 big problems are that I would want to keep functional aux ports and need to stay emissions legal. So I need a small frame turbo that can fit under the N/A intake manifold and behind the air pump. Is there such a thing?
Thanks
Andy

If you've got everything else for this project... Then why would you want to "skimp out" on the fuel system? When it comes to boosting... You better make SURE that you've got enough fuel. Wouldn't it suck to dump a bunch of time and not enough money into your project and then "pop" the engine because you ran too lean?
