Boost creep?

So I have a basically stock S5 jspec that I just put in. After running around in it for a good long while I gave it some gas. I hit 14 psi! Is this boost creep or is this what the stock motor is supposed to do? I'm guessing this is also a good way to make it go pop.

A stock S5 boosts around 8psi, maybe 9

So what does "basically stock" mean? Obviously this is the source of your problem.

Intake and catback. That's the not stock part. I may have left a hose unconnected? But I dunno yet.

well a restricted exhaust is what keeps the boost at that constant stock boost.
5.5lbs for s4 and 8lbs for s5 TII's

since you have a free flowing exhaust now you freed up the restriction and now your over boosting. have fun running LEAN

buy a walbro 255, that should help some. and a wideband.

Port the wastegate. Anything else is ignoring the problem. In my experience, a catback is usually not enough to cause boost creep, but a new intake is. The stock intake is very restrictive on TIIs.

port your wastegate,
or
get a new manifold
an external wastegate
and a boost controller.

A boost controller won't address the issue. it may help a little.
The issue is, that the internal wastegate can't bleed off the exhaust.
It's a physical limitation.
The only real way to limit the power that's produced by the turbo is to port the wastegate.

Yeah boost controllers cannot lower boost. Port your wastegate out or you could end up blowing your engine. Here is a pic of what my stock S4 wastegate unported and ported looks like. Notice how small the stock hole is.

Heh so I'm a ****. When I took off my turbo to port it (never got around to it) I forgot to hook up that vac line right by the intake of the turbo. So basically I was running at full boost. Luckily I didn't go too crazy but I got close. I have a buddy who blew at 15psi and I hit 14... Lesson learned. I will port the waste gate soon and get a boost controller. First thing I did was get an fbcd. I have an extra too.
