boost creep

well if i install a cs turbo back exhaust, intake, walbro fuel pump and an fcd will i be experiencing boost creep every time i boost at full throttle? and if i will, is there any other way to stop it other than porting the wastegate because i dont want to try that in fear of ******* something up? thanks

you will need a way of adding more fuel before worrying about boost creep, a fuel pump alone will not do that. second, a factory setup dialed in properly with the correct mods should be able to handle up to about 12 PSI with mods to support it(engine porting/turboback). a correct fuel/air ratio for each mod is your main concern.

well how are all these guys runnin around runnin just exhaust and fcd's and not blowin there 7's? i would think that the stock injectors, although not huge can handle just intake and exhaust upgrades cant they?

they either are running an SAFC or a standalone ECU to add more fuel, that or they are damaging their engines and not knowing it.

with a Turbo rotary you have to know what the appropriate steps are to take when upgrading or you are taking a risk with each mod you add.

yeah unless you have a wideband. The safc will let you set how much fuel to give at what rpm and you don't know what you need until you hook it up to a wideband.

if i got a manual boost controller, would it be possible to turn the boost down so i could avoid boost creep or is it inevidable that it will occur with the stock wastegate?

you have to make sure that the place does have a wide band witch all tuners will but some just have a dyno to tell you how much power you have. Also the boost controller will do nothing for boost creep. If you are going to make a tid and have a straight through exhaust I would port your wastegate. If you look in the archives you will see a thread on this that shows exactly what you should do to prevent this boost creep and boost spike.

ps. seeing as how you have an 87 I would get an rtek 1.7 chip or a 1.5. These are great chips for applications like yours. go to www.pocketlogger.com and check out the chips and see what they do.

wow, for the price the rtek 1.5 is amazing. the fcd alone costs 90 bucks and this has it built in along with many other features. thank you for bringing this chip to my attention!
