Question Boost Controller ?

I HAVE A 90 TURBO II .....IVE GOT A STREET PORTE ENG ,RACING BEAT FULL EXHAUST (3INCH DOWNPIPE AND MUFFLERS ),KN INTAKE FILTER ......AT THIS TIME IM HITTING CRAZY BOOST FROM 10 PSI TO 15 PSI AND SPIKING ALL OVER THE PLACE !
YEP YOU KNOW WHAT MY QUESTION IS GOING TO BE!!!!!

IF I BUY A BOOST CONTROLLER CAN I MAKE IT STOP AT 10 PSI ?
WILL IT MAKE MY BOOST CURVE CONTROLLABLE ?
REMEMBER I GOT THE 90 TURBO WASTEGATE AND IT CANNOT BE PORTED LIKE THE 87 !
SOMEONE TOLD ME TO REMOVE THE DOWNPIPE AND RESTRICT IT !
I RATHER NOT DO THAT I FIND A WAY TO CONTROL BOOST
I DONT WANNA GET A EXPENSIVE CONTROLLER AS I REALLY DONT RACE MY CAR OFTEN .....ACTUALLY IVE ONLY RACED TWICE IN A SPAN OF 9 MONTHS .
IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH THE QUESTION I WOULD APPRECIATE IT!

NO!&nbsp Boost controller can only RAISE BOOST, not lower it.

If I were you, better get yourself an upgrade fuel pump or you're going to blow your engine like...TONIGHT.&nbsp I'm surprised it hasn't died yet.

You could get a pop off valve but I can't imagine that would be much fun.

so you're saying you can't port the wastegate on the 89-91's? mine was ported by the previous owner so i'm guessing that cut down the boost a bit...how else could i run intake, downpipe, midpipe, and catback and never hit fuel cut

there's a guy on this forum who ports and rebuilds stock turbos. he charges $100 for porting your turbo and $500 for putting a T04 compressor on it with stock turbine. I forgot who and his website address, but you should definitely ask around. Wastegate porting is definitely a possibility and would keep your boost down.

but I say get a fuel upgrade anyways. you could find a F-con on the partstrader for like $200-$300. Get a S-AFC with the F-CON so that F-CON changes the fuel curve according to the boost and you have S-AFC to do fine tuning yourself.

the 89 + turbo wastegates have a flapper and you really dont accomplish anything by messing with them .......thats why i didnt even bother to mess with it when i rebuilt my turbo!

So even with a manual one bleeding off like hell, I'll still need to port my wastegate? My first TII wasn't modded as much as this one is going to be (I have a lot of parts coming in next week ).

Sorry man, I'm a bit under the weather and was typing at work (WORK SUX!!!)...

Give me a couple more days to put back my website up...&nbsp I really didn't have a write-up on porting the later 1989-1991 Kouki turbo wastegate.&nbsp I do have one for the early 1986-1988 Zenki turbos.

With the big exhaust, porting the 1986-1988 Zenki turbo will give you 12-13psi of boost.&nbsp If you want lower, you'll need to restrict the intake or the exhaust - no other way around it.&nbsp I knew a guy who put in a 2" restrictor plate in their 3" Racing Beat exhaust and got it to go down to 10psi.

Seriously, you really need an upgrade fuel pump to give you more fuel.
