bonez or racing beat downpipe???
ok so i really need to get rid of my cats they are clogged and making my car run warmer than normal. i was going to get the rb downpipe and pre silencer to go along with the cat back i got from them and its nice they have a place to hook up the aux ports. but then i saw
this. http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/FC25racepipe.html
it is waaay cheaper and still would be good quality i think just not stainless...
i dont want my car to be louder than it has to be though how much louder do you think it will be than the rb set up and what would you guys suggest?

i think he's asking about the rb with a presilencer vs. the bonez setup he's got a pic of. Looks bulgy in the middle, so I would assume it's got a presilencer as well. All I know is how a RB catback sounds, so no input from me.

i was thinking that is a presilencer too. i think i might just go with that. since its not that expensive if its too loud i could always get something else i guess. the only bad think is i have to mess with the aux. ports now if i get that bonez downpipe.

yea my rb catback sounds nice when you can atually hear it over the fan and rusted cat. leaks. i dont think the sounds would be that different would they since they are both straight pipes one would just be quieter right?

how loud could it really be i have no headers just the stock manifold. i drove it for a while when i first got it with no y pipe would it be louder than that because that was annoying... but it was also right under me.

I have the RB down pipe and presilencer with the stock exhaust manifold and stock catback on an S4 ‘vert. I’ve also experienced the Bonez presilencer with a stock system on another S4 ‘vert. In terms of noise suppression, both are very similar. You can tell that both are slightly louder than with the stock cats, but neither is annoying or embarrassingly loud. Sounds like a ’60 –‘70s British sports car. Although more expensive, I prefer the RB since: 1. It is a direct bolt in, no mods 2. It allows for direct connection to the split air pipe, which allows you to keep your emissions system intact should you wish to return to a cat 3. It is a two piece with the presilencer larger than the cat which would allow switching between a cat and the RB presilencer. On the Bonez, the split air pip is eliminated and you need to run a small piece of tubing to provide back pressure for the S4 auxiliary ports. MO.

i have the bonez racing pipe to a apex gt spec. cat back. before i got the catback i jus had the racing pipe, , and at full throttle the bonez pipe is damn loud... but ever since i gott the catback the noise has lowered and the tone is perfect. it all depends on what setup you want...Good Luck!

i think i will go with the bonez then becasue you guys said it sounds similar and the one i am talking about is also a direct bolt on and its alot less expensive. i dont care if its stainless and i dont want to pay over $100 more to hook up my aux ports. i will just wire them open or if the low torque bothers me i will do the tap into the air pump thing.

When I bought my car, it had the bonez race pipe and N1 catbacks. It had a bad exhaust leak because the flange that attatched to the manifold was very badly badly warped due to the heat. Tito at Alamo rotary told me that is very common with the bonez pipes.
Also, the aux ports dont work with a very low resistance catback and the bonez pipe, while they work with the RB even without a catback (I've done it).
To sum up, the bonez might be cheaper, but the RB DP/presilencer is much higher quality, and your aux ports might not work with the bonez pipe (assuming you have an s4)
