BNR stage 2 = "stock" boost levels?

OK so i finally got my BNR stage 2 installed. After taking it for a few shakedown runs I noticed that my boost levels are back to about stock. I had been running up to 12.5 psi with my stock turbo and my racing beat 3 inch full exhaust. Now I run a max of 6psi with everything set up the same. Does this sound right?

I was hoping that my boost would drop to about 10 with the bigger wastegate. But apperantly I was WAY off.

What kind of controller you using? Now, the wastegate spring was adjusted to the turbo?

I have a t04 mated onto the stock exhaust. I had ported the wategate a to 32mm or so. Had lots of creep. So, had the stock wastergate opened up even larger. Then I ran into a issue where I was not getting enough boost, just a few psi. So, I went and grabbed a drill, and drilled a new hole behind the existing one on the wastegate arm so i could get MORE tension on the spring. WALLAH! All was good then.

No controller at all. When I was running my stock setup and put in the RB turboback, my boost went way up. I have the fuel to support it so I never worried about it, but since my turbo was smoking quite a bit, i replaced it with the BNR upgrade.

maybe now, with that stage 2 30mm wastegate it is controlling boost better. I fyo want to raise it, now is the time for a boost controller

That actually sounds GREAT. The stock WG spring is 5.6PSI (IIRC), so that port job is really doing it's job...

I was origonally a little disapointed, but now I realize that I can swap out the WG spring or get a boost controller to get the pressure back up. I figure I will run it at stock levels for a while and work out all the other little kinks in my poor baby.

Yes. And there is a huge benefit to running a "true" or "controlled" 12.5psi, then an uncontrolled 12.5psi...

Before you were experiencing a creeping boost that was SET at 5.6psi (with the stock spring), but effectively max'd out at 12.5 psi... Your boost was literally "creeping" those 7psi up to it's max boost... NOW you will not have to "creep" to your max boost, instead you can hit it quicker, safer and more accurately. Basically you'll get much better/overall boost-response with a good boost-controller and waste-gate.

Not sure if that makes sense--but you will definitely feel the difference between a MAX psi, and a more genuine SUSTAINED psi.

yep i made 6psi when i got my turbo back also. the stocker was pushing 9-10 psi. I got a boost controller, but ran into problems making more than 12psi.. turned out the wastegate was being pushed open by exhaust backpressure, but i added a couple springs between the wastegate arm and actuator which fixed the problem

Well said Eric! That is what the big port job on my waistgate did. However, I did have to tighten the spring to make boost after I had it ported.
