My Idle Is Wierd

Sometimes when I start my car it almost seems like it wants to die..
then it revs up and then goes back down...
it goes down to like 200 RPMs
and then chokes itself....
is there anything I can do to fix this???

even after the car has warmed up the idle still seems wrong...
and sometimes my engine misses before i get it up to about 2000-3000 RPMs.
what would cause it to miss...
what can i check or replace?

thank you....
phil

Idle problems are probably the most common problems discussed on this forum. First things first. You need to make sure the Throttle Position Sensor is correctly adjusted. There are several ways to do this. After that, make sure the idle speed is correctly adjusted to 750 RPM. Check in the FAQ section of this forum for the online Factory Service Manuals. Adjustment of the TPS and the idle speed is covered in the Fuel section of the FSM. If, after you've done all this, the problem still exists, start looking for vacuum leaks. They can really play hell with the car's idle. Run some searches on this forum for your problems. Similar issues have been discussed many times before.

missing is most likely timing, but i had a leaky o ring in my LIM letting coolant into the combution chamber that could cause a miss as well.

Bouncing idle in MY experience is TPS out of adjustment/spec or BIG vac leak
